Complete guide to configuring music

Professional Music Setup

Info

Follow this guide to set up high-quality music playback in your Discord server. Modora uses Lavalink for professional-grade audio streaming.

Step 1: Enable Music Module

01

Access Dashboard

Go to https://modora.gg/dashboard and select your server

02

Navigate to Music

Click on "Music" in the left sidebar

03

Enable the Module

Toggle the "Enable Music System" switch to ON

04

Save Changes

Click "Save Changes" at the bottom of the page

Step 2: Configure Permissions

Set up permissions to control who can use music commands:

DJ Role (Recommended)

Users with the DJ role have full control over music playback

  • In the dashboard Music settings, find 'DJ Role'
  • Select a role from the dropdown (create one if needed)
  • Members with this role can skip, stop, and control volume
  • Members without DJ role can only add songs to queue

Music Channels

Restrict music commands to specific channels

  • Find 'Allowed Music Channels' in dashboard
  • Select channels where music commands can be used
  • Leave empty to allow in all channels
  • Recommended: Create a dedicated #music channel

Voice Permissions

Ensure bot can join voice channels

  • Go to Server Settings → Roles in Discord
  • Find Modora's role
  • Ensure 'Connect' and 'Speak' permissions are enabled
  • Check channel-specific overrides if needed

Step 3: Test Music Playback

Let's test if everything works correctly:

01

/music join

Join a voice channel first, then use this command to summon the bot

02

/music play never gonna give you up

Try playing a song with a search query

03

/music nowplaying

Check if the song is playing correctly

04

/music volume 75

Test volume control

05

/music queue

View the queue (add more songs first with /music play)

Success!

Troubleshooting

Bot joins but no audio plays

  • Check that the bot has 'Speak' permission in the voice channel
  • Verify your Discord audio settings (not server muted)
  • Try a different song or source
  • Check Lavalink status in dashboard

Music is laggy or stuttering

  • Check your server's internet connection
  • Lower the audio quality in dashboard settings
  • Verify Lavalink server status
  • Try a different voice region in Server Settings

Bot can't play Spotify links

  • Configure Spotify credentials in dashboard
  • Use YouTube instead (Modora will search automatically)
  • Check that Spotify source is enabled in dashboard

Queue not working correctly

  • Use /music queue to verify songs are being added
  • Check if loop mode is enabled (might repeat same song)
  • Try /music clear and start fresh
  • Verify bot has proper permissions
